Hello everyone,
My father was in the 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards. He was captured at Tobruk and sent to a POW camp in Italy. He apparently escaped several times and in his final attempt was successful. He was hidden by local partisan villagers apparently in the hills. He was returned to the allied forces after the war. This is all I know about my now departed father and I would be grateful for any information or in the remote chance that his name might be familiar to anyone who's father went through a similar experience. His name was Stanley Frank Ball and he was from Tiverton, Devon. Like most ex servicemen he never spoke about his experiences and of course I was to young to think about it at the time. If there is a military record system that is accessible to the public or any other checking system available I would be so grateful for any advice. Thank you
