Hello. My name is Nicole, I am an owner of a male and female greek tortoise. About a week ago they began mating for the first time. When I purchased the male a year after I got the female, the seller said that if they are indoors most likely they would not mate. I was totally suprised when I came out and saw them 'getting it on' as my husband says. Franklin (the female) has not came out of their enclosure to eat or bask under the light, this is unlike her! She eats alot, always out eats Atlas (the male). She always seems to know when its feeding time, as soon as I place the food down she darts toward it and eats alot. Not she does not move, I am very worried. I know nothing about breeding tortoises. Today, I added some moss to the tank for her to nest and made sure the humidty was where it needs to be. I also separated Franklin and Atlas, becasue Atlas started to ram her again today and mounts her in her face. Is it possible she is going to lay eggs or is this a false alarm, and she is just sick? If someone could please help me out! I am a worried tort' mom. Should I keep Franklin and Atlas separated (they have always been in the same tank together)?
