Have varigated willow Salix integra Hakuro Nishika still in 3-5 gal pot. Didn't realize how short it is as pot is so high.
we are in zone 4 and had snowed as late as two weeks ago. our nights are still in high 30s and still pretty cool in day - high 60s. My wife love this plant but is too short.
the ball on top is about 3 foot sphere.
Question: if we were to train it to grow higher by pruning the bottom limbs and keeping only one of the central branches, can we still do that now or do we have to wait till fall.
If we prune it now, can we also plant it? are the same time? with a delay? which first?. If the weather finally becomes summer, it may get hot fast?
