Have had my leg in plaster for six weeks after which tried to start my MB 280SL Pagoda (1968) without success. Cleaned plugs / points - starter whizzed the engine enthusiastically to no effect. Opened both fuel lines at injector manifold: only a dribble of fuel issued. Fuel pump can be heard working all the time.
What am I missing?

Did you check the Point gap?,Were the points filed clean, or just re-set to their factory specifications ,Did you double check the DWELL and TIMING on the ENGINE?,....Did you inspect the distributor cap for burned, corroded, elements on the inside?, Did you inspect the ROTOR for burned spots and rust?,was the CONDENSOR checked out for proper voltage?,You should check the IGNITION COIL for proper Voltage output to the DISTRIBUTOR as well,ALL WIRES and TERMINAL connections TO and FROM the Engines IGNITION SYSTEM should be checked for broken wires or bad connections,Check the Spark plug wires for broken leads, and worn, frayed wires,Check the Spark plugs for PROPER gap setting,.....Check the FUEL FILTER and make sure it is working properly, IF IN DOUBT,REPLACE with a new one.....

Hello Edsel. I am grateful for your assistance in this matter but am convinced that the problem is NOT electrical, but fuel-related. I shall check the fuel filter tomorrow as you suggest - in fact, will replace it anyway.
Many thanks, Stephen.
