Has anyone heard of magpies being different colored or patterened? I leave on the far eastern side of Washington state and I have regularly seen two different looking magpies near my house. One is brown and white (normal pattern) instead of black and white. The other has more white markings with less black than usual. I am certain they are magpies -- in every other way they look and sound like them and also flock with other magpies. Also, do magpies usually pick a territory. I have watched what I think are the same two particular birds (the different colored ones) over the last few years.
