Men, women and children may want to get rid of body hair for different reasons.

Some mothers want their daughters to wax the bikini area before puberty as a means to avoid future shavings. Women feel the pressure from their sexual partners but also from their female friends and society in general. Men, especially athletes and dancers, also request hair removal services to improve performance or for aesthetic reasons.

Thus, besides sex, age and health condition, several other factors must be considered when choosing the most appropriate method.

Surface area
Tweezers and electrolysis work fine on small surfaces and for people with low hair density. For example, hairy toes, earlobes and the area around the nipples can be successfully removed with these traditional techniques.

However, larger areas make tweezers and electrolysis counterproductive and too time consuming because these methods work on individual hairs.

Self-service vs. spa
Do it yourselfers may prefer traditional waxing. Don’t mind warming the wax and preparing all the paraphernalia? Then, you can save time and money with wax. Waxing and sugar waxing work similarly, extirpating the hair; but the follicle remains in the dermis still unaltered. If the idea of smearing your legs and pubic area with caramel sounds good, remember you’ll experience the same pain again in a few weeks.

On the other hand, if you’d like a permanent solution, you might have to consider stopping by a medical spa for electrology or laser treatment.

Electrology, also known as electric epilation, uses a needle to weaken hair follicles.
The technician applies the needle into hair follicles, one by one, and uses electricity to either overheat the area at 118°Farenheit—a process known as thermolysis—or to form sodium hydroxide, a caustic substance that kills the follicle.

This is not something you can do yourself. Electric epilation treatments must be performed by licensed electrologists.

The same applies to high-energy laser epilators. Although you may find low-cost personal laser equipment that you can safely use at home, these devices are usually not worth the investment. Since laser has permanent results, you’d use the equipment no more than a few times. Once your body hair stops growing, you you’ll just toss the laser machine into the back of your closet.

So, if you are interested in a definitive solution, consider laser hair removal and find a Colorado laser hair removal spa with a good reputation in your area.

And talking about long-lasting results… Depilatories remove the aerial part of the hair and offer the poorest results. The good news is they are painless.

But so is laser.
