Isuzu Trooper

Good afternoon. I have a 1987 Isuzu Troopper. Last week I was pulling a car and had to activate the 4X4. I started pulling the vehicle and all of the sudden the 4X4 disactivated. The dash 4X4 light was on, but they weren't engaged. I'll appreciate any information provided.
