How come the Otsego county sheriff can't enforce the NYS boating laws on the river and do more on the lake. The lake has been patrolled only 20hrs a week and most of that has been on weekdays when there is hardly any boats on the lake. The river north of the bridge is not patroled at all because trhe sheriff put a mast on the boat that keeps it from going under the bridge. The boating law violators here don't care about you, your boat or your property and the sheriff doesn't care ether.

We should be grateful for our wonderful sheriff. On August 17 2009 the sheriff did put on a big practice drill pulling bodies out of Goodyear Lake. I'm sure the sheriff had a very good reason for the lack of the weekend boat patrol on Goodyear Lake this past season. With all of the reckless and dangerous weekend boaters on Goodyear Lake isn't it reassuring to know that the sheriff is training people to pull bodies out of the lake. There are some great pictures of this body pulling drill on the Otsego County sheriff's web site. Just be careful on this lake and remember that there is someone trained to pull your body out of the lake if something does happen.
