I was reading an LCMS site that said it helped people read the Bible in a year. I came across an area that was from the Old Testament reading and clicked to read the commentary on it. This lead me to 'The Bible Gateway' and below was the commentary;

"The observance of the sabbath.

Orders were now given that a tabernacle should be set up for the service of God. But they must not think that the nature of the work, and the haste that was required, would justify them in working at it on sabbath days. The Hebrew word /shabbath/ signifies rest, or ceasing from labour. The thing signified by the sabbath is that rest in glory which remains for the people of God; therefore the moral obligation of the sabbath must continue, till time is swallowed up in eternity.

(Ex 31:18)

Can you please explain this commentary so that I understand it in a more complete manner? My mother-n-law is LDS and this would fit right in with what she keeps trying to get me to believe so I need a better understanding. Thank you in advance and God Bless!
