Firstly I must say that I am 28 and haven't really engaged in thought in the ways i could have up to this point, to a degree that the deep ideas were felt as sensations, i never up to this point developed my faculty of language (or cultivated properly a habit of reading) that would allow me to articulate these traces in an effort to spurn on the self perpetuating interest, the cultivation process of my own education. one educations oneself i believe.

I graduate from art college last june with a batchelor of arts. i draw and can visualise ideas well, but i would like to develop my intellectual capacity. my higher mind which is rarely stimulated. i would like to begin the wheels in motion whereby this can begin to come about. 28, too late?

so i joined a reading group recently with some people from my old class and the text they are trying to get their great dublin heads around is la tours 'we have never been modern" i began it, but only got through the first few pages. so i suppose the question i would like to ask about approaching this text and philosphy and theory in general is, Where does one start?

What kind of subjects/texts does latour expect the reader to be familar with in order to make the comprehension of what his text more effective? i tried these introduction to philosophy books but i found them to be useless. the idea of modern and premodern, iv had that explained to me before but i dont have a thorough understanding, not enough to build on anyway.

let me know if anyof you wise men and women have any advice.

Kind regards,

Nick
