Imagine my delight knowing that my ancestors, long gone and forgotten are as it appears, related to the Etruscans, that mysterious pre Roman civilisation. Added to that is the fact we can say that along with Basque, Finnish, Hungarian and Etruscan Europe has another non Indo-European language. Having studied archaeology at University, this has only quite recently been discovered by me. I always did love the Aegean bronze age and it turns out with good reason!I am Australian or rather Greek-Australian of Limnian parentage. I always knew, from my travels as a youngin to the island that the Bronzeage habitus was something extraordinary, but n this is somethin g amazing! To all linguists trying to crack the code of this languagewho are intrigued or just Limnian descendants who are amazed and delighted please, get typing and share with me your thoughts or, in the event this mysterious language has not slipped past the radar of academia individuals who are presently studying Lemnian please do start chatting!Share with me your discoveries. Am off to the island in 20 days and am hoping to absorb the spirit of these people, the Lemnians before Hellenisation. Demi

The Lemnian language is considered to be related to the Etruscan and Raetian languages due to strong similarities between vocabulary and grammar. The Lemnian and Etruscan languages share the same vowel system, in which the letters i, u, a, and e are used.

The lemnian language is quite decipherable through nowadays Albanian language.
Lemnian: Hulaiez na futh ziazi.
Albanian: Heleni na fut zine.

Hi Demi,

I was equally surprised to read about the fact that Etruscans
appear to have populated Limnos.

My mother, Titika Aspasia Tratarou, was born and brought up on
Limnos.

Although I do not claim to be an expert on the subject, I take
a great deal of interest in the origins of the Balkan peoples.
However, until yesterday, I had no idea about the Etruscan connection
with the island.

I would be very pleased if you would share any more info you
have on the subject with me.

Best wishes

Byron.
