Family history has it that my great grandmother, Mary Tite, was related to Sir William through the son he disinherited. I can find no record of the birth of any children to Sir Wm but have discovered her father's name was Joseph Tite, but again no trace of his birth or parentage. Does anyone know what chidren were born to Sir Wm or what happened to his son Henry? Thanks

I am the grandson of Henry Valentine Tite (known by his second name). He was orphaned at the age of 8. His father was Henry Tite.

Henry Tite had 3 children, 2 daughters and 1 son. The daughters' names were Sarah and Maud. It may be that Maud was also known as Mary. The source of this information is from Dr. Bernardo's Home where Sarah and her brother Valentine lived after Henry and Eliza died. Maud (Mary?) was raised by Eliza's friend's family.

All searches which I have made into the history of Henry Tite have been fruitless, lending credence to the story that Sir Wm had all record of his birth expunged.

A relative of mine discovered a Valentine Henry (could have been the other way around) but his birth date is wrong being born 4 years earlier than Henry. And in addition to that, there is no indication from my grandmother that Henry had a second name or that if he did it was Valentine.

I have been able to trace Eliza's family back two generations and Sir William's back to 1629. But there is absolutely nothing on record for Henry Tite other than a reference to him in a letter from Dr. Bernardo's to my late aunt. That letter does give Henry's date of death and age at the time of his death.

I do hope that this posting triggers some discussion and some memories.

I also have a family storey that my great grandmother Emma Tite was the grand daughter of William Tite. I have found that her father was named Joseph Tite. I was wondering if this is the same Joseph Tite. Mine died in Melbourne Australia in 1887. If so this would mean that our great grandmothers were sisters.
