Currently about to convert a redundant building into two new grond floor apartments, also reinstating features on the front elevation, which include, columns, cornice, etc. As it falls within a conservation area, the council are requiring wood to be used for these features. The half columns will extend over a busy pavement and will no doubt be subject to impact damage, prams trolleys etc,and will require constant attention. Then there is the weather, this property is located 100 metres from the seafront,so exposed to the elements. Painted wooden features including 13 metres of cornice fronting the building beneath a tile hung elevation wont last five minutes.Any suggestion from anyone who has had similar problems from the council.
