Enchodus fossil

My friend has a geode with a very nice, complete enchodus fish fossil. One odd thing is that it is only 4"-5" long, instead of 4-5 feet. Do you think it is a young one, or a variation? It was also found in Idaho, which is not a state listed as a known location for previous enchodus fossil finds. Very rare, or not? Lastly, what might be the value of such a fossil?
