I've been having trouble trying to figure out exactly what Berry means in "Health as Membership" when he says, this is a fallen world with disease disintergration and division, got that, then he says our education, if it is any good, will lead us back to knowledge of wholeness and holiness.

Does he just mean education should be geared to the needs of the community not the individual career, that education be part of a general endless project of creating wholeness on earth or is he talking about something more, like church perhaps, apparently he goes to church, or something else again.

The way of looking at the world in "Health as membership" assisted me to stop eating rubbish, drinking, I may even quit being an agnostic next, I sometimes think Berry could convince me of anything, such as being a crack-dealer if he wanted, fortunately he uses his mastery of words for good.

Education improves your health by making you aware of the consequences of bad behavior, and by giving you the information you need to stop engaging in unhealthy behavior.

Thanks for your comment, I agree with that, since asking the question I've been thinking he put the answer in a following passage(typical, it's a difficult text)that is: not seeing the material and spiritual world as split, dualistic, but as a whole.

Oh I'd better do some re-reading

cheers
