..The term Ebonics is a misconception...not more than another word/term that criticizes and stereotypes African Americans who are uneducated or from a geography where they have a pronounced accent or way of speaking.

...What so called Ebonics is really is simple Regional Vernacular English, Broken English, Pigeon English, Creole...all different in the pronunciation and writing and origin of words, but still "regional vernacular" or a form of Slang!. It is no different, but varied from a person who is an immigrant and has not learned spoken or written English.

... They speak "broken" English, but the point is that people speak from the abilities that they have. To malign them or stereotype them because of their lack of education or fear of failure in learning is ignorant.

...there was an attempt to bring so called Ebonics to the Public schools as a language form. That is one of the most ridiculous things ever presented in the media. It didn't last long. The thing is, as African Americans evolve, their native, secret, or slang forms of communication will continue within the culture. It has no place in public Education except as exposure within a program that educates one about nuclear Folk Lore or Culture.

...Ebonics comes from "Ebony"...a dark brown to Black Wood that is nearly extinct from over harvesting for furniture, jewelry, art, piano keys and wood wind instruments. Ebony means Black...so Ebonics essentially means Black talk or Black language. there are two views that exist. One is rooted in lack of education and the other is deliberate stylistic language meant to be exclusive. Making it into cannon foder for the masses will serve no purpose!
