Harvest moon.mead river.are two I remember we were on float phase during Christmas.I saw my present on top of all the other mail and grabbed it and the officer of the deck yelled at me and I yelled back saying it was for me.He yelled back carry on.I think there were 3 in Dec.68 and 4 in Nov.68 really all I am sure of is we got the hell beat out of us.I was a jeep driver at the time and was made part of ships company.We got to wash the dead,the over flow from the hospital ship. Med-evacuation in bound at first we thought that meant wounded. But it was all ways bodies to be washed,sprayed with peppermint oil and put in a bag.We went back to Diloct pass in January.This may not answer the question but it is a time line. Remember when we stood in formation,the rifles stuck in sand bags complete with helmets and they read the names of the guys that died the day before.Till we stopped falling out for muster.Because it was hot depressing and they were not going to do it for us,if we got killed.I still hate that.God so many died and I didn't know any of their names.God forgive us we were so young.
