During 1936 Standard Oil-Cal installed equipment to CESPA's refinery in the Canary Islands that converted gasoline to aviation fuel. I believe that the technology installed allowed tetra-ethyl to be blended with regular gasoline to acquire the desired octane level.

My questions are when was this conversion project started and finished and who provided the tetra-ethyl?

"Tetra-ethyl" was gas supplemented with tetraethyl lead. Why couldn't the stuff merely be added to gas - at any locaton?
