Generally speaking this group of Christians believe satan was never in heaven. A hymn of the church says: "heaven is a holy place...sin can never enter there..".

Much is debated over satan, ie. Is he a backsliden angel and therefore could repent? To place him in heaven is an attempt to explain where Evil came from. The only one that knows the answer to everything is God.

Why do you need a "pastor" to reply? I am recognized by this group as an ordained Miniser.

For consitant relavance in scripture one must begin in the first book of the Bible. Satan is there and on earth.

If you jump to Job, notice where satan himself said he had been: "To and fro IN the earth, snd walking up and down in IT." Although scripture says he is a liar, I believe he knew where he was in Job.

There is no mention of heaven in Job 2: 1 - 2.

Remember HEAVEN is a place of purity, holiness and eternal bliss - no place for anything else.

The other question to you was why you need a misiter to reply?

Hope this helps.

I only ask about a pastor because the post was there so long & seemed like no one would touch it. As for Job 2, where did this meeting take place with the angels present as well as satan, before God? In the 1st book when God created the heavens & earth ,do you think He created satan as a spiritual being on earth that had nothing but bad & lies in him? Why does Heaven & earth become renewed later on if the Heaven is still Holy & perfect? ---Not trying to debate on this, but trying to get a better understanding of why there's so many Christians that think satan was an angel with inequity found in him & cast out to earth to only constantly rebell against God. How did he even come before God in this meeting when God cannot look upon sin --although God can do anything but wrong.

Job 2 does not have angels present.
The Bible never clearly says WHERE satan came from. Jesus said satan was a lier from the beginning. Since there is nothing befor the beginning, satan has always been a lier.
No where in scripture does it say heaven will be renewed later. II Peter 3:13 says new HEAVENS (plural) referring to the celetial.
Never thought of satan as an angel - good or bad or is cast out on the earth. He is the embodiment of evil and limited by God for a period or space of time of which we are in now.

No scripture can be found stating God can not look upon sin in general. He did turn away from His Son on the cross as Jesus bore our our sins or the sins of the world.

Job 2 (New International Version, ©2010)

Job 2
1 On another day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them to present himself before him. 2 And the LORD said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”

2 Peter 3:13
But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

Revelation 21:1
[ A New Heaven and a New Earth ] Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.

Appears we're looking at different translations maybe.

Job 1"1 Yes we are using different translations. The NIV uses "angels". The RSV, KJV and ESV (English Standard Version) and some others do not use the word angels here. And the NIV you are using put a letter at the top of the word "angels" and at the bottum of the page it reads: Hebrew the sons of God. For accuracy in scripture, one usually goes with the text that most translators use.

The issue of the word heaven in the texts you refer to is not where God now dwells on His throne. This heaven is eternal and therefore can not pass away. However, the "new heaven and new earth" refers to the new order where all is righteousness (pure, sacred, holy).
By the way, "sons of God" are simply righteous people.

Hi all; I just happened across this site. I guess my question would be, How can Sen. Tester identify as a Democrat :) but no matter: on to the question here.

It's a good one. The popular myth is that Satan is called Lucifer, which is just that, a myth, based on careless interpretation of the Isaiah 14 passage referring to a man identified as a king of Babylon, who vaingloriously pictured himself as shining in splendor. The term "Lucifer" is not in modern versions, with good reason; it does not belong in the text, correctly.

Now, as to the reference cited in Job, I would not take that account of a conversation between God and the devil as being meant for a strictly literal interpretation but more of an allegorical representation of Satan's accusations as the opponent of righteousness and the accuser of God's people.

Satan is a created being. God did not create him as an evil being; when Jesus speaks of his being a liar from the beginning, that choice of words does not necessarily refer to the beginning of time but the beginning of man's creation. It would seem logical, although the Bible gives little to go on and therefore it's not something overmuch to speculate about with insistence, that the devil was created pure, along with similar beings, in some probationary existence before the world as we know it was made. Apparently, without any sort of external temptation, during this probational spiritual existence, Satan somehow rebelled against God which instantaneously brought his exclusion from the heavenly realm as quickly as a flash of lightning. The other spirits who followed him in rebellion may or may not formerly have been angelic beings; in any case, they were spirits who after their fall and rebellion became demons and perverted, unclean spirits, without possibility of restoration or redemption. They apparently have varying degrees of power, but even Satan, the most powerful, is not omnipotent, nor omnipresent, nor omniscient. He is first of all, a deceiver, and a liar, yet able to package counterfeits to what God offers, often wrapping bits of truth around his lies. As to the simple question, then, my opinion is that Satan was never in heaven after his rebellion in which he apparently instantaneously changed to absolute evil, but it seems to me reasonable that BEFORE his rebellion and fall he may have been in the presence of God's holy angels in the heavenly realms.

There are many things which our minds can not comprehend. It is difficult enough to imagine how eternity could last forever and ever, going forward. It is even more difficult for our finite minds to envision a God who ALWAYS existed with no beginning, ever! All we can do is to humbly rejoice in God's truth revealed through his Word and in Christ, to respond to his amazing love which brought him to make such awesome sacrifice for our salvation and provision for our eternal happiness with him--in short, to rejoice that this eternal and Almighty GOD IS GOOD, absolute perfection in holiness. How terrible it would have been had our Creator been otherwise!

When one seems adversarial, it is difficult to take them serious. The question has been settled years ago and only those who do not accept the BIBLICAL answer keep bringing it up for "discussion". Although, I am a "Church of God" pastor retired it does not require one to know the answer. Continuing to talk about Satan, means we talk less about the Lord. I prefer the latter...2nd Timothy 3:7

Yes, our focus is on the Lord and his glory and gospel, not on Satan.
