Does anyone remember a trainee in 1972 or 73' who committed suicide at Polk...I believe the circumstances were that he jumped from the 2nd story of the barracks with a sheet tied around his neck...killing himself...any details...date,name,unit etc. would be appreciated...

Yes, he was three barracks down from me. He was in a different company. I was in E-4-1. I found a newspaper article about his death in the Dallas Morning News archives. It was published November 12, 1972 on page 30. The caption is "GI Claiming Order to Vote "Nixon" Dies" I have it saved on my computor if you need it. The article listed his name as Pvt. Antoine D. Conde, but as I said I do not know what company he was in. It said he was re-cycled into a different company due to his problems with an officer named Adams.

That was my co.d-2-1. I remember walking out of the mess hall and seeing that.
