Does anyone know why a 0 (zero) would appear in a cell when you’ve entered a new formula? The cell is connected and works when data is entered but if there’s no data entry, the cell shows a 0 and then will print that way. HELP! What am I doing wrong?

This is entirely normal for Microsoft Excel 97, Excel 2000, Excel 2002, Excel 2003, and Excel 2007. It's just the way the program works; Excel formulas must return a value.
But, if you are using Excel 2010, do this:
[1] Select the cells that contain the zero (0) values that you want to hide.
[2] On the Format menu, click Cells, and then click the Number tab.
[3] In the Category list, click Custom.
[4] In the Type box, type 0;-0;;@
