I can't find any info but my father Teodor Krol was in the engine room as a stoker from 1942-43 to the end of the war when the ship took part in destroying the German u boats up in Scotland.Another crew member was Kazik Kostuch (i may have spelt that wrong)He was a cook on the Blyskawica and my fathers friend.I visited his home in Hove near Brighton with my father in the late 1950's.My father lived in Wales after the war and never returned to Poland. He died in 1975 but Karzych died not so long ago.His wife is still alive as is my mother.Blyskawica is a museum ship in Gydynia now and has been invited back to Cowes in the Isle Of Wight in 2012.70 years after the ship saved the town from heavy German bombardment--Mike

Hi
I've been trying to research the Blyskawica because my Grandfather served on it too. His name was Felek Piechocki and he was the Pay Master I believe. Sadly he died a couple of years before I was born so I never had the opportunity to ask him about it. I am looking for crew lists too. if you have any recommendations for how and where to find any information I'd really appreciate it. I live in Canada so it's a bit more difficult from way over here,

The Blyskawica is now a museum ship in Gydinia Poland and perhaps they have a record there but the Polish navy sailed under British command so possibly the Royal Navy have records. My father Teodor Krol started the war in the Polish reserve army in The Middle East but transfered to the Navy later. He was a stoker in the Engine room on the ship and was on the ship at the end of the war.I think he was on there from 1942-1945.The Blyskawica was in Plymouth at the end of the war and one crew member settled there.Another Kazick Kostuch settled in Hove Brigton and married a girl called Peggy. He had a lovely house there with fruit trees in the garden. My mother is still in contact with his wife.My father died in 1975 and Kazick died about 10 years ago. There probably still are some crew members alive, now in their late eighties but not many i would think
