HELP!!!
My 17 year old son has been suffering from abdominal pain, diarreha, constipation etc. and yes has been diagnosed with IBS. However, I don't believe that it is the only thing he has.
He along with the above symptoms is pale, tires easily, and at times vomits contents of which I have NEVER seen in my life;I even took pictures and showed them to his GI doc which has no more right to be called a doctor than I do and he is a pediatric doc to make things worse. No one wants to give him anything heavy duty for pain because GOD forbid he becomes addicted. At this point who cares at least he would have a normal life, and before you blast me about this I am talking about him being monitored, and that kind of thing, he could get heavy duty illegal drugs just by making one phone call if that was what he wanted pain meds for. I am sick of everyone putting him through all this and not doing anything.

So in my desperation of trying to figure out what the hell could be wrong, I remembered he told me that after his dad and i split up while he was staying with him(we took turns and while he was in school because his dads house was closer he stayed with him) he told me that they had a "mice problem". So the other day i began questioning him and it was more than a small problem evidently it was infested and they had mice poop all over the silverware in the drawers, on the food, in their rooms and at night he said you could hear them in the attic, and they even experienced Rats in the house RATS big RATS. After I picked the top of my head off the ceiling because I got so mad, it blew off I tried to talk rationally to him about it but had to quit because it broke my heart to think he and his brother lived in that and didn't tell anyone.

My question is does anyone know of anything they could get from mice in your experience or someone elses. I have looked on the computer but thought maybe someone would know something from experience

He suffers from chronic abdominal pain that goes from dull to severe, lasts anywhere from a few minutes to all day.

Experiences diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, bloating which is extreme at times. Has had all the tests, ultrasounds, xrays etc. and they cannot pin point anything. If anyone can help us it would be more appreciated than you know. It has caused him to miss so much, he had to be homeschooled because of it and missed ALL of the highschool experiences, his friends don't come around anymore and are moving on with college and he is stuck here, in and out of the bathroom and in almost constant pain and says he is tired of not having a life and honestly I believe in my heart if he doesn't get help of some kind he will eventually kill himself because he sees no purpose to be here, can you blame him? He is not stating anything about it right now, but i am watching him CLOSELY.
THank you for taking the time to read this and i look forward to any and all advice.

Debbie,

How long ago was he exposed to the the mice droppings, etc.? If it wasn't more than 1-5 weeks after exposure (to the mice droppings, etc.) that he began having symptoms, it could be something called Hantavirus.

It can be serious.
Symptoms:
\* Fatigue
\* Fever
\* Chills
\* Muscle aches, especially in large muscle groups, such as your thighs, hips and back
\* Bubbling or rattling sounds in your lungs (rales)
\* Abnormally fast breathing (tachypnea)
\* Abnormally fast heartbeat (tachycardia)
\* Headaches
\* Dizziness
\* Nausea
\* Vomiting
\* Diarrhea
\* Abdominal pain

These can appear between 1-5 weeks after exposure. IF this is the case, he needs to be seen immediately! Tell the doctor's office that he has been exposed and what his symptoms are. INSIST that he be seen NOW. If you cannot get him in, take him to the emergency room explain that he has been exposed and have them do blood tests for the antibodies of the IgM and IgG.

Let me know what happens.
Lynn
