Haileighbugg, it is entirely possible that Hawken rifles were used in the civil war, by either side, but they would have been privately owned and not issued by the Government. The Hawken rifle was not made in any military configuration and not really suited for warfare although I could see someone in a militia unit carrying one and useing it for a sniper rifle as the Hawken was well suited for long distance shooting.
