Did lever brothers print the book(Uncle Toms Cabin) in the late 1800,s. Is there a list of their employee,s for this period. Was the book ( Uncle Toms Cabin) given to their employee,s children.

I think they did, as I have a copy of Uncle Tom's Cabin which has the printer as "Port Sunlight: Lever Brothers Limited". I assume it was given to their employees, as my great uncle worked for them, and the booked was passed down to me from him.

Gosh! I can't believe someone has come back to me on this book after so long. Hi so good to find someone else who has this book. I have tried so hard to find an answer in fact we went to Sunlight and could not find out very much only that they gave employee's children a book at a certain age. The one we have was given to Edith Nicholls and she began to read it 9.7.1894 and finised it 7.12.1896. I have tried Sunlight and got no reply. The only thing left for me to do is go via genealogy and find the family of Edith Nicholls if there is anyone left. Due to circumstances at the moment I am unable to go down that route. Thanyou so much for your reply.

HI.. I too have a copy from my Dad, I am not sure where he picked it up but it is :
To Amy Riddiford, from her Mother 1894.

My Father was a flea market buyer and he lived in Ontario Canada.
