Socially,polygamy was accepted hence it united the people.A man with many cattle was highly respected.The Mutapa conducted religious ceremonies like reincarnation and rainmaking.



Economically,the Mutapa practed trade .It was divided into international and local trade .Local trade was done with indigenous people mainly of Mutapa and some of Dande region eg Tavanga and Tonga people.Hunting was regurded vital it provided ivory from elephants.Mainly done by men.Agriculture was a doemant practise ,which supplied food in the Mutapa.Mining of gold was also vital hence it also boosted trade.Pastoralism was done as a souce of food .Animals kept included goats and cattle.Cattle symbolised wealthy.

Politically,the king was the head of the state.Used the royal council or dare in the running of the state.The state had an army which only emerged in times of war.The king collected tribute.He also distributed land to the people.The king was regareded as a devine one.It was believed that soon after his death he would go into heaven ,so he was highly praised.The throne followed male line inharited form father to son or other powerful worriers.
