Dear jim,
it has been said that" the greatest fool may ask a wise man a question he can't answer".this has never stopped fools from trying,so here goes. we are told that 'big bang happened 13.6 years ago and this is the farthest we are able to see in any direction. this seems to presuppose that our position is in the centre, which doesn't seem likely. if our position was farther 'inwards or outwards', is there any reason to suppose that our horizen in a given direction
might be nearer. also,if we were nearer one 'edge' which we can see 13.6 light years away, surely the'edge'in the opposite direction must be much farther away in which case doesn't that mean that the universe has to be much bigger and thus older and does anybody have any idea where the centre might be?
lastly,if the universe is expanding, has anyone given any thought to just what it is we are expanding into, could that be the answer to your question about 'nothing'?.
