K-25

Darn it! I thought I'd find answers to my questions. Has anyone found de-classified archival photos of the diffusion processes inside the K-25 plant? What did the nickel membranes look like- sintered, thick, thin? How big was the piping? What did the Teflon-seal pumps look like? What did the early-generation television monitors look like? I've found photos of control rooms, with meters, rheostats, chart recorders and other switchgear, but what were the actual MEP schematics? The people who designed the plant were breaking new ground and had to have been very smart people. I'd like to get a clearer sense of what they created. I assume that none of this 1940s technology can have any value to the bad guys, what with the availability of centrifuge technology. We have plenty of photos of calutrons, some of the PUREX process (which is detailed in a number of websites, anyway), thermal diffusion columns and the plutonium breeder reactors.

Best regards,

John Potter
