Bit of a late reply.I'm South Queensferry born and bred so have a little knowledge of local history.Captain John Hastings(aged 65) of Black Castle was having an "affair" with his maid Mary McCreavie (aged 26).When his wife found out,he accused the girl of bewitching him,aided by her sister Anna McCreavie(aged 23)Both girls were found guilty and burned as witches at Ferrymuir,the site of many local executions.
