I believe in Mahabharat and believing in Mahabharat does not mean believing that it actually happened. Believing in the epic means believing the values, the teachings and inferences depicted in this great epic. I will not stop believing in God, if some scietist with all possible scientific tools prove (and beyond that no doubt can occur)that God does not exist.
Friend, Mahabharat is a mythology and it was not written with an intention to be believed only when its proved scientifically.

We are taught our own history from British point of view. They call it a myth. Believing in it or not it totally up to the individual. And if you dont believe in it You cannot believe any history thats been taught to you thats over 400 years old. We did not have historians who wrote things without any influence. Take any other religion, their religious books were written/compiled after a long gap of their respective Gods were on earth. But no one would question that. History is written by winners. India has been ruled by Mugals and Britishers for quite a few centuries. Its obvious, our history is questioned and has been described as myth.
Ramayan period is even older than Mahabharat period. Can you believe that geographical location of India and Sri Lanka stands the way today as mentioned in Ramayan? There is mention of puspak viman in Ramayan. How could some one just think about something like that during the times of Ramayan's writing? Newton came up with his laws of physics only in 1600s. When people did not even think of a flying object by then?

I would suggest go read life story about Narsinh Mehta, a Gujarati poet and devotee of Krishna. You would be surprised how he was in 1400s.

When we read the bagavthgeetha, Bagavan sri Krishna says that He has spoken the truth in the begining of everything, to Sun. The truth was nothing but the divine knowledge. This knowledge was delivered to Manu by the Sun god, and Manu delivered the same to Ikshvaaku. This became a parampara( a tradition ) and finally this wisdom was given to rishis(saints) who where the teachers for the common people. But some how the Tradition was stopped and the Knowledge was destroyed. All this words were told by bagavan sri Krishna to Arjuna in the Bagavathgeetha 4: 1,2.

When i say that the Knowledge is lost, I mean about every thing. Let us take an example of puspaka vimana.
We cannot understand the make of it and probably deny its existance in the past. But when we speak of the egyptian pyramids we accept it as man made. Why??? is it because of its existance? non of the modern scientific equipments are able to build it in such a short time.The researchers say it was built in about 30 years, but not sure about it. The ancient egyptian used copper, a softer metal than steel and wood. so do you think the Egyptian Pyramid were Myth. We have satellite to see the adams bridge( ram sethu ) in mordern era. then how do you think it was noticed by the ancient Indians. Ramayana was written around 9000 ago.

What I feel is no one in the past was DUM!!!

It is just the Knowledge was not passed to the next generation properly. or as bagavan sri Krishna says it is because of our ignorance we failed. Now i see the same thing happening to Srimadh bagavatham. We fail to deliver it to the world is injustice made to the generations and not to the Srimadh bagavatham. Indian discovered the heliocenter of the solar system, the number Zero, early mathematics but it was quite advanced, advanced astronomy, weather prediction, the sanstrit language which is most suitable on computers than any other language in this world, Deliverance of peace through out the history; just to name a few sand granules in the heap of sand which could touch the himalayan peek.
