Feminist philosophy
Contradiction?

There may be identified two strands to feminism, a political / ideological strand concerned with equal pay, women's rights and quality of life, and a psychological / epistemological one dealing with the way that women understand the world. The latter sees women as more intuitive, empathetic, emotionally articulate and generally more emotionally intelligent. Men are seen as psychologically more comfortable with linear, logical, 'positivist' (for want of a better word) ways of thinking. This is a crude distinction but it tends to summarise a position that in my experience is taken by many feminists.

If women's intelligence is differently orientated to men's then this might imply that women are better suited to societal roles which emphasise their qualities, but this is to play right into the hands of their political / ideological opponents.

I have yet to find a good paper which resolves this dilemma.
Any thoughts ?

Mike.

I've always thought that feminism wasn't doing any favors by encouraging women to act like men...because men aren't so great either are they?
