Firstly, David has to have been really daring to have crushed pills and sprinkle into his elderly grandmother's Lime Jell-o, still having known, in the back of his head, that she could have died. Second, Mr. Griffin has an excellent point about striving to be a perfectionest. Lastly, the author actually chose to show that Mr. Griffin actually has a heart in front of the students. Awww.....

I have read later in the story, and I believe that David isn't quite the bad guy that he seems to be. I know he does some really terrible things that he should be punished for, but I think that he does have feelings for Susan and will come to regret what he has done. I think his flaw is being susceptible to peer pressure that Mark puts on him.
