Certain web sights indicate that the U.S. Army and the Army of the Republic of Viet Nam used the H-19 (routinely?) early on during America's involvement in that cause. Assuming that this info is accurate, and based on how scarce information appears to be on Army and ARVN use of the H-19, I would appreciate any information available on this. If this is too broad a topic, I would like to specifically know, during the Viet Nam conflict only, if these aircraft carried any weapons for self-defense, such as a flexibly mounted 30 caliber Browing or M60 MG for example. Again, assuming other web sight info is accurate, would like to know which U.S. Army and ARVN units used the H-19 in Viet Nam, and when they were in use, before being replaced by the H-34, etc. Any photos of H-19 use as described above would be appreciated, with emphasis on markings, camouflage schemes as applicable, and self-defense weapons, if any. Thanks.
