I have been keeping up with the news of GPI inc. locking out the employees at the Bay City carquest distibution. I for one will not shop or buy anything from a company that treats their employees with such disrespect after so many years of service. This is psychological abuse from the company with regards to how they are treating and playing minds games with their employees by not letting know anything. They are creating fear in the minds of their employees by financially playing with their lively hood and lives. Wake up America, if we don't get behind these employees now it will be you next.

I do not agree with union practices, as far as I am concerned union is only there to protect the f-ups. If you do your job then you have no need for union in most companies. What you need to understand is Carquest/GPI did this to all of the workers, if they were really interested in getting rid of the non performers then there are too many loop holes in union contracts that they could have used to get rid of the non performers. As for being paid to pickett, THE UNION IS NOT PAYING ANYONE TO PICKETT, IT IS NOT A STRIKE, IT IS A LOCK OUT BY THE COMPANY. And the company rather then meet with union officials to rectify the situation has put them on hold.
I am a salary employee, I do not work for any union but I believe in rewarding those who are workers and by shutting out ALL your workers is just wrong, they are messing with these peoples lives. So look at the big picture from management point of view, instead of getting rid of the workers they are dissatisfyed with they took an easier road and punished them all. What message are they sending to the good/great and loyal workers? Do a good job, be loyal, and we will group you with the ones who are not? How do you think these workers will now perform when/if they go back? Will they be loyal to a company who can't show loyalty to them? Will thye respect upper management (and respect is a huge thing in business)? The company should have been asking themselves these questions BEFORE they took it this far.
