Can you furnish me information about the service of my great uncle Lt. Willis H. Hoyt who was assigned to Camp Pike, AK, to command Company C, 14th Replacement Battalion, a unit of the U.S. 87th Infantry Division, in the summer of 1918. I quote from a newspaper account: "This battalion is a separate organization known as the non-commissioned officers school for colored troops, aiming to turn out officers for overseas service as rapidly as possible."
