Can some one help?
Palouse earthworm
My husband and I had a new lawn laid in May this year and as it was quite a hot spell, we watered it well. And the lawn was great; however 2 weeks ago we noticed mud spots around the lawn and few days later I spotted a thick white, looking like a coat hanger bent in to three arches sticking out of the lawn and thought one of our children had been playing around. Today this has appeared again 7am in the morning only 1 big arch and was moving (with my eyes and I have taken a picture of it on my phone ) the mud spots are now all over the garden , I have had the gardener around today who laid the lawn and he said he has never seen anything like it ( the mud spots that is) but will get back to us .
The size of this would be including the arches and do remember I have not seen the end or beginning is approximate:
When 3 arches 30cm
When 1 large arch 15 cm
I have called the RSPA they said look on the internet under worms or snakes and see if you see what it is. This is what I have found, called the RSPCA back and the name is not on their records and suggested calling them back on Monday.
Please take into consideration I live on England so we don’t see things like this very often.
What should I do, the thing is killing my garden.
