Can anyone please tell me if the ARC had a ship by the name of 'Rancagua' in service around 1956? I know this ship name goes right back to the great Bernardo O'Higgins era and this name had been in use again in the 1980's.
I am transcribing a hand-written diary which mentions the 'Lientur' being at Deception Island in December 1956, and I had the pleasure of dining on board her at Port Lockroy in that year. I cannot decipher the hand-writing of the name of the other ship at Deception Island - It certainly looks like Rancagua but I have been unable to locate a ship og this name being in service during 1956 on the web. I would be very grateful for any help.
