Can Arundo Donax be grown in containers?

I have grown this plant which we called "bamboo" since I was a youth in 4H raising show chiskens. I love this plant for its fast growth and luxurious look when well watered. I have seen bumble bees nest in it as well as birds. I never had much success growing it in containers such as two to five gallon containers.
