Good Ol' Boys

People who love country music have heard about Luckenbach, Jackson, Muskogee, and plenty of other all-american towns across this great country. But that is where the experience ends, with lyrics from a song. When Marty told us about his Felina, we learned a little about El Paso and Rosa's Cantina. What we are missing out on are the people of El Paso that grew up there and have called it their home all their lives. We can't begin to imagine just how good the Mexican food at Rosa's could be or the stories told there by the loyal patrons.

This is where CMT can bring country music fans together. CMT can bring its viewers back to Old Cheyenne and show us what Joe left behind and what his lost love experienced. My idea for CMT is to have four gents travel to these towns made famous through music by great artists. These four would spend a few days in each town getting to know the locals, showing America what it is like to live like a local, and bring these towns and their people to life!

Each trip (episode) will start with a song playing. The song lets the viewers know where the four boys are heading and is a good precurser of things to come. Driving from city to city in a bus or RV is just for transportation purposes. The boy will stay with a local so they can truly know what it is like to live like a local in the town and be able to show that experience to all of CMT's viewers. When the four gentlemen arrive to a town, they will submerge themselves in the culture. Eating at a hole-in-the-wall that only the locals know about and going to bars and hangouts where only locals are welcomed. Even if someone has visited Luckenbach, Texas, they have never seen it the way it should be seen; through the lives of its homegrown.

The four guys that take America on this trip are Sam Simpson, Mark Mizesko, Michael Walker, and Andrew Rimer. I, Michael Walker, and my three friends have the personalities to make this show special.

Sam Simpson isn't afraid to speak his mind in any situation. Being brutally honest is what he is known for, and it can be frustrating to deal with at times. He is the most decisive of our bunch and often takes the lead. Sam doesn't care if your feelings are hurt; he is going to do what he wants. He believes that life is suppose to be a good time so if he ain't having fun then he ain't having none of it. At the same time he isn't going to be something completely stupid.

I do things a little different from Sam. I am usually down for whatever and am more concerned if others are having a good time before taking care of myself. Usually the most quiet of the bunch, I make sure we stay alive and don't end of in jail at the end of the night. If logic and reasoning were people, they would be my best friends. Still, I like to break out of my shell from time to time and show people I'm not always predictable.

Mark Mizesko will be the highlight of the show. He lives his life recklessly and can get himself into trouble; even if he is just sitting at home on the his couch. He drinks more than he should and ends up doing some stupid things that either make you laugh until it hurts or just plain hurt without the laughs. Even when he isn't drinking, Mark is capable of doing or saying something that would make you die laughing. My friends, logic and reasoning, don't want anything to with Mark and it makes for a lot of unforgettable moments. But when he isn't drinking, he is working on his musical career. Equipped with nothing more than his guitar and voice, Mark has written a lot of songs and isn't afraid to share his talent with the world. He is destined for the entertainment world.

Andrew Rimer is a mixed bag; you aren't always sure what you will be getting. Sometimes the man can be just as reserved as me, and other times he can be just as wild as Mark. A good way to know which Rimer you are getting is to ask him for his name. When he is sober, Andrew is in charge and is a pretty relaxed fellow. When he is drunk, Terry comes out and can be just as entertaining and frustrating as Mark.

We are good friends, but that doesn't mean we are always civil with each other. We can agree with each other and have a good time. We can also hate each other and do things just to piss the others off.

This idea of getting to know these towns from country songs is a very good idea. But to make the show great and have millions of more viewers, you need this perfect mix of personalities. Everyone watching will have someone they can relate with and see themselves. This is the perfect opportunity for CMT to host a TV show with an idea and the people to make it special. It is a chance for the country music industry to reach out to a wider audience. CMT can do something amazing for country music and its network.
