Beauty contests could work if they stood for something more that just looks/appearance. If they awarded a woman for being beautiful from the inside as well. There are ways of making women truly feel good about themselves through contests for example i have come across this one contest which i think is inspirational to women rather than making them feel bad about themselves please see what these guys have done to make a difference
