Awa Maru is often mentioned as a hospital ship that was lost at Camiguin, northern Philippines. This is incorrect as it was sunk by US submarine "Queenfish" in the Taiwan Sea and some salvage, I understand, has already taken place.

The Hospital Ship outside Camiguin Harbour is thought to be the Teiyo Maru bombed in the first week of April 1945.
As there were many Japanese vessels named Teiyo Maru I would like more information on this particular one, thanks
