As a frequent visitor to the mill in the 1943-1955 years, I knew Stanley Jupp as the local taxi driver, my question is when the sails are turning do's the mill face directly into the wind or is it set at an angle like a sailing boat ??

Also I know that the eliptical springs control the vanes on the sails so that they will feather off to spill wind and slow down the sail arms in gusty conditions but is there any addjustment, I remember old Juppy starting the mill on just two sails to show me the workings but that was over 60 years ago befor the damage to the main shaft supports
