Appalachian Mountains

Are these mountains older that the rockies? I've also heard that they were once much bigger than the rockies too?

According to geologists and other scientists,the Rockies had yet to be born when the Apps were already in the process of being eroded,''the first time.''And yes,at one time the Apps were actually,''acording to scientists anyway'' higher than the present day Rockies,or the Hymilayias.
I am a resident of the southern App.region who has also lived in the New Mexico Rockies,and have visited nearly every Rocky MTN.state;and I must say that for some reason the 5-6000 foot mountains in this region appear just as high and majestic,''in their own way''as many of the 10,000 foot plus mountains of the Rockies.Anyone out there agree with me ?
