The truth is that they do have lysergic acid amide (aka LSA) which is not as strong as LSD

Actually, you are incorrect. I have checked various sites and textbooks, and they all indicate that it is LSD, not LSA.

LSD is a chiral compound with two stereocenters at the carbon atoms C-5 and C-8. The C-5 isomers of lysergamides do not exist in nature, they are exclusively man made. Morning glory seeds do contain LSA.
