Are the adults ever seen outside of water? I have seen what I think are two of these outside on my sidewalk. It has been raining ALOT and I am rather close to a stream, but what happens to the adults after they breed in water? Do they die there, or so they leave and wonder about? The ones I saw were very very thin and about one foot long. They were a brownish color with a black roundish end and a black slightly forked end- both ends were not very big. They moved more like snakes then insects- lost of S bends. When I picked them up they twisted...I love bugs, but these gave me the serious willies and I threw them away in the garbage as I was fairly sure they were parasites, but not knowing what type and afraid for my dogs, I leaned on the side of caution. So was it this worm? If this worm is never seen out of water then what was it? Thanks!!
