Am I the only one who recalls listening on the radio at past 1 AM in the early 1950's as Mickey McDermott pitched all 16 innings at Chicago? The score was still 2-2 when,in the 17th the Red Sox scored a run. Then,in the bottem half a reliever named Harry Taylor gave up 2 runs and lost it. I was about 14 and had my bedroom radio on real low and could not bear to go to sleep without knowing the outcome.
