Nexium is used to decrease acid production in the stomache. The symtoms you are describing are due to muscle spasm in the esophagus. When the esophagus spasms the acid from the stomache can come back up the esophagus. I recommend you talk with you doctor about using a GI cocktail to soothe the esophagus. I have noticed that when I use my cocktail I have less spasms and less GERD.
