QUESTION YOUR PSYCHIATRIST.
Do it until it works.

My story:
I was on Klonopin, Lamictal, and 800mg Seroquel. Then, one fine day when a manic attack landed me in the "windows don't break" hospital, a psychiatrist (now my psychotherapist) put me on Lithium. It was like the fog lifted and I could go outside and play in the sun again.

They call Seroquel a mood-stabilizer, it's more like a mood-deadener. If it doesn't seem to be working for you, that doesn't mean it's the wrong medication - it may just be in need of the buddy system.

As a "hypomanic" Bipolar, I honestly don't see how multiple doctors could have left me on Seroquel for so long without thinking they could improve me with an ACTUAL mood-stabilizer.

(The funny thing is, when docs were shoving anti-depressants down my throat a decade ago, in my teens, I asked them multiple times to try Lithium. I begged them. They continued to ruin 3 years of my life with mania-inducing drugs.)
