It would seem that one field of Linguistics remains unexplored and that is of the affect of environment, landscape or geography upon accent or dialect; when I refer to environment, landscape or geography I am concerned with all that is 'physical/3 dimensional', eg: valleys, mountains, forrests, high rise buildings, small cottages, open plains, deserts, etc.

The Welsh, for example, speak softly.... is it not relevant that living amidst mountains and valleys that one would be aware of just how far and clearly sound carries?
