A vendor suggested that we could place a large load > 3000 gallons of Ferric Sulfate into a bulk storage tank that held Ferric Chloride that still had the same amount of the Ferric Chloride in the tank at the time of the delivery. I asked vendor to give me a written statement that this mix would not react in a negative way by being mixed together. After the Ferric Sulfate delivery our chemical pumps and piping began to plug with a yellowish brown precipitate/sludge. I have heard that this is called salting out? Has anyone heard of this before or been involved with type of situation?
